Yoga in Practice

Announcing our New Yoga Forum

Namaskar,

We're very pleased to announce our new Yoga Forum - a place to discuss almost any Yoga topic with other Yoga educators.

We've started the forum with a variety of Yoga topics that concern Yoga teachers and serious Yoga students. Over time, these topics will grow, and we can always add new ones to keep the discussions current and vital.

Imagine being able to talk openly and honestly with other Yoga teachers, interns, and serious students of Yoga from around the world.

We invite you to take a tour of the New Forum at: www.yoga-teacher-training.org/forum

These are the topics we've already started:

General Yoga Discussion (anything about Yoga & Yoga Practice)

  1. Personal Experiences - Why do we love Yoga?
  2. Sanskrit - What does that mean in English?
  3. Types of Yoga

Yoga Teacher Forum (issues, concerns and questions for Yoga Teachers)

  1. New Yoga Teacher Questions
  2. Regulations
  3. Business & Marketing your Yoga Business
  4. Should I teach Yoga? Is this right for me?

Yoga & Health (health benefits, issues and constraints of Yoga practice)

  1. Yoga for seniors - is it safe?
  2. Prenatal Yoga (Yoga during pregnancy)
  3. Yoga for Kids - any concerns?
  4. Yogic dieting and Ayurveda
  5. Yoga and specific health conditions

Yoga Education (issues relating to learning about Yoga & Yoga Practice)

  1. Level 1
  2. Level 2
  3. Restorative Yoga
  4. Prenatal Yoga
  5. Kids Yoga

This is a new frontier for us, and we're very excited. Feel free to post your thoughts and opinions on any of the topics we've started, or even to start new ones. You'll need to register as a user in the forum in order to post or respond, but the process is quick and simple. Also, if you have a strong interest in any of these subjects, we're looking for moderators to help ensure the smooth running of the following subjects. It doesn't take a lot of technical ability, just a passion for Yoga and an interest in sharing ideas (see below).

Over time, we may find that the topics within the categories will become complex and will become subcategories themselves. This forum can easily grow and expand to accommodate the needs of our new community.

Some of you, who are in regular contact with me, are extremely knowledgeable in a variety of subjects concerning Yoga. Feeling very fortunate to have so many gifted colleagues, in the study of Yoga, I humbly ask for your participation - especially, because I know that some of these Yoga topics are your specialties.

If you are relatively new to Yoga, this will be an excellent resource - a place you can go to find other Yoga teachers. All of us can learn from each other and, hopefully, contribute to the development of a more cohesive, self-supporting, and understanding global Yoga community.

You can visit and browse the posts anytime, but to participate by posting or responding to posts, you must register first. The registration process is quick and easy.

The great thing is: This is a learning experience for everyone and most of us will be Yoga teachers. While it will be open to the public, the main core of visitors will be Yoga teachers - worldwide.

It is my goal to see teachers and interns have valuable and educational discussions. Our newsletter reaches out to over 10,000 Yoga teachers and interns from every corner of the earth. Imagine the cultural exchanges! People from all over the planet getting to know each other by sharing ideas about a passion they have in common.

All the Best,
Namaste,
Paul

Question of the Month

Q: I am just starting to practice Yoga on a regular basis with almost six months experience. I am starting to visibly see, and feel, the benefits of Yoga. Can you recommend a resource for people who are brand new Yoga students and want to make a lifestyle change?

A: There are a number of good Yoga books, and quality Yoga videos, to develop a solid foundation. The first book I would personally recommend is, The Heart of Yoga , Developing a Personal Practice by T.K.V. Desikachar, who trained many of today's modern Yoga masters, this one book will help anyone develop their own routine.

This is also a good reference book for anyone at any level of practice.

There are also many good Yoga magazines, such as Yoga International and Yoga Journal.

Also, I will be releasing a new eBook that will have a holistic view of health, diet, and exercise in August. It will combine principles for an easy to follow method of spiritual, mental, and physical health. We will also have a continuing education course, CEC, based upon the book.

Each month, we will post one "question of the month." If your question is drawn, we will post it in this space. To submit a question, contact me at: aurayoga@aol.com
