Ahimsa is the most important of the Raja Yoga moral codes. There are followers who take an extreme view of ahimsa to make sure no harm is done to anything during any action. In some cases going as far as walking around an insect to prevent injury. I think this is noble, but there have been times walking down city streets where I was oblivious to insects. I hope I didn't step on them, but I could have.
To do no harm to other humans is a full time job. We must be mindful of actions and words at all times. What is the most common method of hurting people? It is by what we say.

i think it is what we say most of the times. but on a spiritual level its even what we think. and not just of people but our entire surroundings. it is a full time job. to think on this all day every day is the only way we would be able to avoid it all together. this would be the prime example of being mindful though.
