Yoga to Gain Self-Acceptance

If you are someone who struggles with your appearance or emotions, or you have trouble with self-acceptance in general, then you know how difficult it is to feel happy or fit in with a group. You may think that because you don't accept yourself the way you are, it won't be possible for anyone else to like you or want to be around you. However, through the practice of yoga, you can begin to accept yourself and will be able to turn negative feelings and emotions into positive and productive ones. These are lessons I learned from Paulji.

Yoga is beneficial in multitude of ways. It can calm the mind and relieve stress. It strengthens the body and increases flexibility. It can give you an overall sense of well-being. A large part of yoga is about focusing on your body, so as to have a heightened sense of self. As you begin to practice yoga regularly, you will see changes in your physical appearance as well as your emotional state. As you advance through the different postures of yoga, you will see physical improvements. As you transform your physical appearance, you will most likely become more positive in your thinking. Yoga practitioners often remark how they began to experience a newfound sense of pride as they continued their practice. This is all part of the process of self-acceptance in yoga. Yoga will make you aware of your body through the movements and poses required. Breathing and meditation will help you to concentrate and to clear your mind of distractions. This will give you a sense of calm which will have a positive impact on your mental well-being.

As you regularly practice yoga, you will have the power to make healthy lifestyle changes and choices. You will begin to transform negative qualities in yourself into positive qualities that will make you a better person. Qualities you once disliked in yourself will become less of an obstacle for you. Yoga can also help you gain control over bad habits, which could be a source of emotional distress for you. It is also possible that you will build valuable friendships through the practice of yoga. This happened to me when I visited the Aura Wellness Center in Attleboro for yoga teacher training. You will develop a sense of self-worth as you build friendships. You will begin to have a positive outlook that will be reflected in your everyday thoughts and actions. Incorporate yoga into your life and practice it regularly to ensure a calm mind, healthy body and a positive view of yourself and the world around you.

Meditation to train the mind for positive thinking is an extremely valuable technique. Yet, it will not receive the same fame as yoga. A photo of a person sitting and practicing meditation is not as glamorous as one of a practitioner standing on his or her head.

Some sources claim that the human brain produces around 70,000 thoughts a day and getting into negative thoughts is very much easier because these emotions put forward strong impact as compared to positive ones. Negative pattern of thinking may destroy sense of creativity, productivity, decision making skills and other valuable abilities. Sometimes this may lead to unhappy, depressed and stressful mental conditions. To avoid the experience of negative thinking we should make conscious efforts to train our brain from overcoming negative ideas and thoughts by thinking in an optimistic manner. Positive mindset will be helpful for boosting up energy levels and happiness in an individual.

Several researchers and clinical studies revealed that engaging oneself in physical activities like aerobics, swimming, yoga and spending time in fresh air is extremely supportive in getting rid of negative emotions and allowing brain to think positively. The ancient system of yoga is said to be an effectual therapy for training mind towards optimistic life style. Generally yoga is combination of physical postures, paranayama breathing techniques and meditation process. All of them work to synchronize and transform physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Especially meditational practice is a kind of inter generative process by which we can start feeling relax, happy and peaceful.

Scientifically it is proven that meditation is beneficial for both mind and body, it is a powerful yet simple technique performed in seated position, taking deep breath and by focusing on some object or by chanting mantra. The regular practice enables us to become aware of our inner selves, change pattern of our thinking and getting rid of unproductive emotions and thoughts. The consistent practice grants long term benefits and positive effects on brain. According to Buddhist philosophy the ultimate advantage of practicing meditation is liberation of mind from strong internal emotions and providing a way to feel and think positive.

There are different forms by which we can meditate, for beginners it is difficult to sit for hours and focus. So the easiest way to start practice is by sitting comfortably and tries to focus only on breath for developing deep concentration. It is good to practice meditation in morning, fresh air and close to nature, start with 5 or 10 minutes time interval daily than gradually increase the time duration. Here are some meditational techniques by which we can train our mind to think positive.

Concentration technique: It is the most common of all techniques and involves focusing on breath only. By practicing this technique, the ability to concentrate improves.

Chanting mantra technique: it is another commonly practiced technique that involves repetition of word, phrase or mantra by keeping mind focus until it becomes silent and calm.

Visualization or open eye technique: In this technique a simple visual object is used to fill and allow wandering thoughts in mind to reach a level of profound serenity.

Mindfulness technique: This technique involves staying and keeping mind focused on present moment, just concentrating on sensations and stimulations we feel in body. By practicing this form we can aware of how our feelings and thoughts tend to move in optimistic or pessimistic pattern.

Love this thread and agree that Yoga is good for self-esteem. I can remember when some teachers wanted to get away from giving Yoga a self-improvement label.

Five Reasons Why Yogic Positive Thinking is Good for Your Health

There are many different benefits for people to practice yoga and think positive; not only does positive thinking have an effect on the mind, it also affects the body as well. Furthermore, positive thinking, or negative thinking goes hand in hand with the law of attraction, and law of vibrations.

Positive Outlook

To begin with, people who have a more positive outlook on things will be able to deal with stressful events in their life better, and they will also be able to overcome them more easily. On the other hand, those who look at events and situations in their life as things they cannot change, or have influence over, then so it shall be. However, those who think positive about an event or circumstance will be able to devise a plan of action, or come up with some ideas on how to fix the situation, or what they should do next.

Secondly, those who remain in a positive and optimistic state of mind will also help to raise their immunity levels as well. Those who think with a positive state of mind will raise their body’s defenses, because of their bodily cells becoming stronger, and this will also help people to stay healthier.

Another very beneficial thing about thinking positively is that people will find that they will become more active, and as such will lead a healthier lifestyle. Other than just a healthier lifestyle, people will help to strengthen their body. Furthermore, people will also benefit from being much more content and happier, rather than being depressed and anxious. Also, people who continue to think positively will also increase their lifespan.

Coping with Stress

Another great benefit for people thinking with positive thoughts is that they will be able to cope with stress, and issues in their life much better. With an increase resilience to stress, people will be able to think logically about what their next steps will be to solve whatever their issue is at hand; furthermore, they will be much less stressed when doing so, as they know that it will be taken care of with effort and dedication.

One of the last and most beneficial aspects of thinking positively is of course the law of attraction. The law of attraction, which operates on the basis of the law of vibration, states that everything is vibrating energy. What we dwell upon with passion, and feeling, we draw to us through these universal laws.

When people think with positive thoughts, give themselves positive affirmations, and continue on, even when continuing seems like a failure, they will continue to push on, and attract to them what they truly desire.
