The Yoga Sutras are the answers to much of what ails the world today.
The Yoga Sutras were originally written by Maharishi Patanjali, in Sanskrit, more than 2,000 years ago. “Sutra” means, “to thread,” and there are 194 Yoga Sutras that make up the “tapestry” of Yoga.
Within these verses are guidelines to self-discovery and purpose. The Yoga Sutras are a classic text, which makes them essential reading for every serious student of Yoga.
Each time we approach any Sutra, the meaning, or viewpoint, may change, because we are not the same person we were yesterday. Our daily experiences change us a little each day. This experience, and the study of Yoga Sutras, is healthy for self-reflection and meditation.
We know there is much more to the Yogic path than physical postures and exercises. In this course, serious students will learn how to access the deeper wisdom of Yoga philosophy.
Discover why we react the way we do in certain situations. Learn how suffering can be an opportunity for growth. Learn the practical application of non-violence and truth. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras give us many illuminating perspectives that can be applied to daily life, right now.
To help integrate this wisdom into our modern life, this course offers a unique approach. Instead of reading each sutra sequentially, from beginning to end, there is focus and discussion regarding 51 key concepts. By exploring these principles, and the option of learning to chant the Yoga Sutras in their original Sanskrit, the essence of classical Yoga philosophy is revealed to us.
The Yoga Sutras course invites you to discover a variety of practical tools, and heartfelt insights, for transforming your practice, including:
