Namaskar!
Realizing that certification is important in teaching public hatha yoga classes. It should be noted that credentials aren't needed for other forms of yoga such as bhakti and jnana. If I teach bhakti why become a certified yoga teacher? Why attend a superficial yoga teacher training with people who only feel yoga is an exercise? One doesn't need a diploma to study the Bhagavad Gita or to practice yoga with family as a spiritual path. Hatha is different and I understand the reasoning, but there are many different types of yoga teachers.
