Namaskar everyone,
Fasting is something i find it extremely difficult to do even on normal circumstances. i have this habit off eating several meals in small quantity in a day to avoid gastric pangs and i enjoy my meals. I did a homa prayer yesterday and i was adviced by the sidha to perform a simple fast (only half a day) and a few observation. I thought it would be easy, it was not...
They suggested the following during the Homa day on 04/11/2008
1. Take Head Bath on that day.
2. Avoid taking solid food till 10 .30 A.M (No cooked food) Indian Std.Time (malaysian time would be 1pm)
3. You can have Milk in the Morning .( I am allergic to milk so had 1 glass)
4. Avoid eating outside on that day.
5. Do not have No.Veg and Alcoholic Drinks
6. Visit nearby temple.
7. You can do meditation.
8. Keep off the Phone,T.V and Mobile.
9. You can have your regular food after 10 a.m Indian Standard Time.
10 . Your husband can go for work and he can have home food
11. You can burn agarbhatthi (insence stick)
12. On that day You can offer dry Fruits to the nearby Children.
This were the steps adviced to me and the most difficult one was to keep away from the phone and being away from computers. Being isolated which is hardly possible when u have few members in the house who keep coming back to you for information , so i guess i kept it as minimal as possible to answer whatever necessary. The only good thing was i was surprised, i finished reading the chakra balancing workbook by Anodea Judith & played CD1 but i sort of dozed off towards the end while doing her meditation at night.
The other thing which i really enjoyed was the meditation by offering petals of flowers for each chant. I liked the smell of flower & incense stick.
But i was so so tired & exhausted in the morning after my first meditation session i dozed off till lunch. But I was alright after my vege meal i accomplished a fewer more session & completed the book.
I realised being a day to yourself alone many thoughts come in and out and to keep them positive engaging in one of this activities help to keep the mind focused and positive and sometimes certain thoughts which you thought you have dealt with actually resurfaces.
Overall was a good experience. I hope i would accomplish a one day fast in the near future.
I guess this needs a lot of discipline & will power.
Shanthi
