Namaste Mark,

My apology if I sound like a devil's advocate.

Misinformed Yoga Teachers? Some are, and most are not. Hair stylists, plumbers, and doctors with credentials - you could say the very same thing. Government regulations don't help, just look where we are right now. Would anyone like the government to run their family?

Should George Bush regulate Bhakti, Karma, and Raja Yoga? Should the Yoga Alliance regulate Tantra Yoga? It really seems silly. Governments that try to control thinking, exercising, meditating, and praying, used to be called communist.

Licensing most things is just another way for governments to tap into your pockets. The public is more aware of Yoga and competent Yoga teachers.

No organization should ever try to control a system that has been around for thousands of years. Lately, we have the BWY and the Alliance trying to make a claim on this turf. The hidden agenda is obvious, memberships are like protection money, but some Yoga teachers are like sheep.

Sorry, the truth is nobody is qualified to regulate Yoga, but the Christian Right would like a shot at it. Just think about it - They would like to outlaw Yoga.
