Namaskar Everyone,

I know of two different cases where yoga alliance refused to register established yoga teachers. One was a graduate of the prestigious Bihar Yoga Bharati (Yoga Institute) with 400 training hours. She was refused because her teacher wasn't an ERYT.

In another case one person who had attended 6 different yoga teacher trainings totalling 345 hour was refused. She was refused because she was supposed to have all of her teacher training with one ERYT. You have to consider this person also had a medical background.

Both of these ladies were teaching before yoga alliance existed. My question: Why would we want to join? For that matter as sister group sits on the other side of the pond. BWY is very discriminating. You must be a UK resident to join. Where is the union in elitism?

Not al yoga teacher associations are like this, but why join? In the UK it would be wise to support the yoga register. In the US it would be wise to support the state level yoga teacher association. It should be a good feeling you get when you meet your fellow yoga teachers.

I wouldn't want to be a member of a club that discriminates. It gives one the feeling of socializing with a bunch of snobs. Sorry, but that has nothing to do with Yoga at all.

Om Shanti,

A.S. Kumar
