Greetings and Salutations to Everyone.
For 10 years I gave YA my dues. I know many certified yoga teachers who don't bother to join YA, but I felt it would be a good feather in my cap to be recognized as a registered teacher. Until recently I never questioned my membership. I sent in my dues did what was required and stayed the course.
Problem is recent events in Virginia. The state jumped on us big time about running yoga teacher training courses. We got hit with huge fees and it has caused some of my friends to close their studios during this recession.
Most of you know the home office for YA is in Virginia. What did YA do with 10 years of contributions? Did they put up a fight for us? Did they mention how yoga studios provide a public service during this recession? Did they do what they said they would do in 1999? Reminder: They said they would protect us and keep the government off our backs.
YA said it would be good for us to be regulated by the state of Virginia. So I ask you - how many of you registered yoga teachers are going to renew? Reason being, I won't renew and I wonder what happened to the millions of dollars we paid out.
