Thanks Jinga, I wish I could say, "I'm shocked" but this is another good example of an organization that's not upholding standards for yoga teachers and Jinga found a way to by pass the system. Yoga Teachers who let their diplomas expire do so at their own peril. If you think a card is going to help you in a court of law, think again. If the creators of a registration card examined your ability to actually teach that might hold some weight but if they never saw you teach a single yoga class you've got nothing to protect yourself with.

Jinga is pulling your leg. This post seems blatantly obvious. Jinga is playing like an air head to stir things up. Just doesn't seem like anyone would truthfully write that and brag about it. All of us want to teach safely, Why else is continuing education so important? To teach with an expired diploma is asking for trouble.

If you want to protect yourself, you need certification and insurance. Here is a link to a related video about this subject. //www.yoga-teacher-training.org/2011/02/22/valid-yoga-teacher-certification/
No idea why anyone would say CECs aren't required by Yoga Alliance. They require them and they don't condone letting your diploma expire. I'm not a YA member, but let's be truthful here. If Jinga is telling the truth she has managed to duck a YA check. So much YA misinformation is out there due to their constant rule changes and their own propaganda. It's hard to keep up with new rules that change more than once a year.

Thank goodness there is no over handling on this forum. I believe Jingajong's claim that nobody checks her continuing education. For that matter, I never had one student ever ask to see my yoga alliance card. Most yoga instructors are women and women all wanted to be a cheerleader in high school or hated them because that's what people do.
Rama Birch came up with this idea and handed it off to who ever the secret society is that spreads their propaganda. Matthews is just a figure head. They could've invested in hologram technology to have their next 20 presidents. Any how, I'm out of the club and laugh when I read the misinformation about, "You have to be registered or else." That card means nothing if you're in court. Did YA see you teach? Please think no further. Did YA come to the rescue in VA as it said it would in 1999? What's somebody's word worth to you? That's why long standing yoga teachers quit and I'll never be back. Contrary to popular opinion - certification, insurance, and common sense is all you need. I'm not a lemming and never have been.

Okay, I'll take the bait. You say your diploma expired over 9+ years ago! Don't you care? Did you attend any workshops or read any books? What if a student gets hurt in your classes? Do you really think your insurance company will cover you with an expired diploma? I can appreciate you feel you're playing the alliance but that won't help you in court because YA shuffles paper with no evaluation of your ability.

NO I DON'T CARE. I have nothing to lose because I lost everything including my house in this recession. I do have the ability to teach yoga and I don't have insurance because I can't afford it. I do read books from the library and I visit this free aura yoga community to learn. If somebody wanted to sue me - wait in line. I don't have a car or a bike. And I'd sell YA down the river in a heartbeat because they take money for dues and don't care if anyone can teach. That's it.

Namaskar Jinga,
I too have nothing of material value. I type on a computer at the library or from a generous friend. Some could say you have found the best Yoga path of all. Your financial situation is dire, but you are a good example of the ancient path of teaching. Please let your sorrowful feelings of financial loss go. Let your contempt for YA go as well.
