To tell the truth - yoga certification is the first step teachers should take. Economics ds play a part in our decision making process. It is true some parents do finance the yoga teacher training of their young adult children. Mean while some of are doing a career change or phasing into becoming a yoga teacher gradually with part time work.
I like Parell's formula of priorities to become a registered yoga teacher. This is something that most people feel they must have right away, which is nice, but there is no reason for it. Nobody regulates yoga in North America. Yoga alliance is the self-appointed watch dog, but there are many places that just want a certified yoga teacher (CYT).
Lastly, International Association of Yoga Therapists is another group to consider as an alternative. https://www.iayt.org/ They are very helpful and have valuable publications.
