Can anyone tell me why some people think it is so important to be a member of Yoga Alliance? There are some snobby studios that insist on it, but an Registered Yoga Teacher is not guaranteed to be competent.
The Yoga Alliance is not a national regulating board at this time, but it is obvious they have the desire to control and regulate Yoga. Their agenda seems unyogic.
Yoga Alliance ds not test you and they've been around for only nine years. Many of the older Yoga teachers, I know, refuse to join Yoga Alliance. The kids out of high school become an RYT, ASAP, because they need every possible credential to overcome lack of experience.
So, I am leaving this open for discussion, because maybe I am missing the point as to why a competent certified Yoga teacher needs to join the club. Sorry if this sounds gruff, I just finished talking to a Yoga snob RYT with two months of teaching experience under her 20 year old belt.
