Yoga alliance didn't really say they were the governing body of yoga. The may have had others spread misinformation for them, but that's speculation. They put together a good common sense set of ethics for teachers to follow. We may say: Under who's authority, but these organizations (YA, BWY, IYF, etc.) had to start sometime.
