Speaking of myths, governing bodies and all, the state of Texas has just pulled a big tax out of their pocket to tax all the yoga teacher training programs into the ground. They want thousands of tax dollars in payments for them to go away and leave you alone or they'll shut you down. Well, there goes the neighborhood. If you want a yoga certification in Texas, you could go with an online course or you might have to change your travel plans to Colorado, Mexico, Tahiti, Oklahoma, or somewhere else. The small time yoga places in Texas that train teachers might not make ends meet in this economy.
Sounds like teachers need some governing body help in Texas from Yoga Alliance. But I read YA didn't lift a finger in their own state of Virginia either. They said regulation was good and that means a shut down of small studios would be healthy for yoga. Tell me they didn't say it! The yoga teachers in Virginia had to unite like they did in New Jersey and New York. The states keep grabbing for tax dollars and close businesses that are hanging by a thread. YA was supposed to help us.
