Yogi,
Yes. As far as I know only one intern or "student" has taken them to court, but the student did win (easily). Unfortunately, ICYAS (Institute of Yoga Therapy etc), talks about their lawyers all the time (they don't have one - at least they did not have one when they appeared in court), intimidating students. As well, a lot of the students they take advantage of are foreign or new residents, meaning they are still trying to grasp the language and culture, and do not understand the legal system. It is actually fairly easy to take someone to small claims court that allows up to $10 000 and no lawyer is required (and it is actually frowned upon if one brings a lawyer). This was probably a long winded answer, but in case someone needs this, I want the information to be listed. Anyway, I don't want to tie up this board with this issue. If anyone has any further questions, feel free to write me at safeyoga@hotmail.com
Sincerely,
Safeyoga
