Pranam,
I am going to be giving presentations about Yoga and its anti-aging benefits for local companies. Ds anyone have any opinions, resources or research about Hatha Yoga for anti-aging? I realize there are many anti-aging scams so I hesitate to use the word anti-aging but yogis tend to age very well. Some yogis look like they are 20 years younger. Add to this reality that Yoga classes are very, very cheap in comparison to anti-aging herbs, drinks, foods, and drugs. Any help is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Reli

Yoga for Rejuvenation
There are many anti-aging exercises to choose from, and these exercises will often take the energy out of you. What is amazing and unique about yoga is that it will often leave you feeling rejuvenated. The main reason for this is asana practices are a lot like stretching only more intense. You know how great stretching feels don't you?
Why do yogic practices make people feel rejuvenated?
Yogic methods rejuvenate people because some of the principles that put into place. The gentle but energetic stretching helps to make the mind feel calmer, while the stretching has positive effects for the body. Yogic practices have even helped to enhance people's flexibility as well as their spinal alignment.
Improving circulation
Some people have difficulties with the circulation in their body. The advantage of doing a yogic practice is that it helps to improve circulation because the body is moving in ways that is getting rid of blockages in the blood flow. It also helps to renew the blood in the body and help to make it more oxygenated blood. Another advantage of this is that many people have built up toxins within their body. However, when circulation is improved, it helps to carry the toxins out of the body. When this happens, it results in people feeling rejuvenated from their yogic practice.
Reduces the effects of aging
Yogic practices have been shown to reduce the effects of aging. If that is not evidence of rejuvenation in yoga, then nothing is going to convince you of it. One of the reasons that yogic methods reduce aging is because they help to lower stress levels within the body and mind. If you have ever heard of children giving their mothers gray hairs, there might actually be some truth to that. It has been shown that people who are less stressed live a longer life.
Very few western based exercise programs use the breath. Before I met Paulji, I never met anyone who used pranayama for everything. He would use it for golf, archery, weight lifting, martial arts, cooking, walking, running, praying and anything you can think of. Maybe the only time he doesn't practice it is when he laughs or sleeps. If someone says something conflictive, he listens, but i know he is practicing dirgha before he replies. After meeting him, I realized pranayama is an adjunct exercise system and a stand alone method for all aspects in life.
Relaxation
People will often feel rejuvenated from their yogic practice because they get so relaxed and calm while practicing. Relaxation helps people to feel rejuvenated, and this is why when people are doing their exercises, they will often feel renewed from the exercise. It takes away the stress that was causing them to feel so poorly.
If you are looking to get into yogic practices for rejuvenation, then you will be pleasantly surprised. Many exercises leave you feeling exhausted, but the nice thing about yogic methods is they have this charming approach of making you feel rejuvenated.
