Dear Juli,

Yoga for tennis elbow: Your advice (ice, rest, and visit a doctor) is correct. We do not want to assume it is tennis elbow, without a physician's professional opinion.

One point to mention is, our student's elbows, and all the rest of their joints, should never be locked (hyper-extended) in Yoga, or in life.

Usually, tennis elbow is caused by repeated injuries to the muscles and tendons on the outside (lateral aspect) of the elbow, which results from overuse or repetitive stress.

Here are some therapy exercises specifically for tennis elbow.

Anastasia Dorohova has a DVD on this subject.

All the best to you and your students.

Namaste,

Paul
