For teaching the 4th limb of Yoga (Pranayam), you should first teach deep natural breath to elders. Some elders will benefit from breathing so deeply into the lungs. They will also learn to use their diaphram in the process. The stomach expands on the inhale (puraka) and the navel draws to the spine during the exhale (rechaka). The focus on the stomach only will help breath awareness.
