Hi All
I have discovered now that the pain stems from muscle spasm in the forearms, causing tension on the tendon over the elbow. Massage is relieving this slowly, although not being able to rest completely is prolonging healing. Much better all in all though.
Kind regards,
Sandra

Hi SJ Hedges,
You should stop your asana practice right now because your elbows are joints - not muscles. You can't abuse them without serious consequences. Are you spending a lot of time in plank and downward dog?
The reason I ask is these poses tax the elbow and shoulders. Please describe what a typical class is like. You might have to practice at home of find a teacher who is understanding of yoga anatomy.

Hi Gator & Tomako
Thank you for your replies.
I use yoga DVDs at home and practice 2-3 times per week on my own. I do actually spend quite a lot of time in downward dog, and try to straighten my arms, so this could be the problem. I'll give it a rest for a while until my elbows feel better, then try again without locking and see how I go.
