Hi JB - A couple of things might help to clarify your question and get some answers. In Ashtanga Yoga, two differing Sun Salutation series might be conducted and these are Surya Namaskar A and Surya Namaskar B. The Surya Namaskar B sequence is longer and includes additional standing postures such as Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I) and Utkatasana (Chair Pose or Powerful Pose). The Surya Namaskar B may be longer than sun salutations performed in other Hatha styles and would promote stamina, balance and coordination. Is this the comparison you are interested in? Perhaps others could comment as well.
I am not really sure I understand the second part of your question. Could you clarify this for us?
Namaste,
-Don
