Kind Regards Beneet Sharma,
Do you speak against the Ashiyana yoga retreat centre or just every style of yoga that you are not an aspirant of? Shame, shame, shame is what you bring on yourself, your teachers and their teachers.
You have done more to defile the name of your lineage than anyone before. Where did you get this: "Us against them talk?" You have placed your teacher under suspicion and cast doubt upon the teachings of your ashram.
You say: "We have been emphasizing that yoga is not only about asanas and pranayams - though they are an essential component. So, any centre merely teaching the yoga practice around these two practices is not a yoga centre."
This is interesting because you do not practice Yama or Niyama! Did your yoga teacher training fail to teach you the foundation of Patanjali's yoga? Please study the basics below and you will learn the eight limbs of Patanjali.
Yama: Universal morals
Niyama: Personal observances
Asana: Yogic postures
Pranayama: Breathing exercises, and control of prana
Pratyahara: Control of the senses
Dharana: Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness
Dhyana: Devotion, Meditation on the Divine
Samadhi: Union with the Divine
Do your homework carefully and you will learn the truth about what yoga really is. Please study with a competent yoga teacher and find a Yoga school filled with kindness. My suggestion is that you consult with Paulji at Aura Wellness Center to balance your mind.
He should have a course that will help you to find a true yogic path. Leave your present intolerant teachers before they poison your mind. Please study your Yamas before writing intolerant statements about Ashiyana yoga retreat centre or any other style of yoga.
I. Yamas (Universal Morality)
1. Ahimsa Compassion for all living things - Including other yoga teachers from different styles other than your own.
2. Satya Commitment to Truthfulness - learn the truth - it is not under the thumb of one teacher - it is the yoga teacher within you.
3. Asteya - Non-stealing - When you lie you steal the truth.
4. Brahmacharya - control of your senses. Stop your messages of intolerance.
5. Aparigraha - Preventing the desire to acquire wealth. You do this work for your Swamiji, but he has a big ashram and chests full of riches.
Shanti,
A.S. Kumar
