Hi B,
I have been down I-90 in SD only once. But I have a fair idea of what SD is like. People were very friendly. Another good thing is you should be able to find dedicated students. The students who come to your yoga classes will more than likely be the most educated people in town. This makes it easier to find them if you decide to create a post card list of yoga student prospects. You don't have to spend a fortune. You could target 1,000 homes. School teachers, medical people, social workers and professionals are good prospects. All of them have too much stress and the choice is yoga, drugs, or hit the bottle to deal with it all.
In a town of 20,000, the yellow pages are Okay if you get your ad in right now the new directory listings for yoga will be out in April. If you want something fast - Val-Pack, Super Coups, or something similar is a fair start. Especially if you hit the winter or early spring seasons. Forget mailing out in July and go for the back to school season. Basically, your looking at mailings in early January, April, and September. Another idea is to drop flyers off at local businesses like a coffee shop or grocery store.
Happy Thanksgiving.
