Pranam,
Many good points have been mentioned for the validity of level 2 yoga teacher certification. Many people could make the case that level 1 is foundational training. This is not to take the value of level one yoga teacher training, but there will always be a time to expand your horizons.
In yoga certification courses of all kinds, there will always be areas to expand upon. The subject matter can expand in so many directions, that we must look before we leap. At the same time, affordability of learning materials must be taken into consideration.
This is why the yoga distance learning courses developed by Pauljee have grown in popularity. This gives an established yoga teacher the time to study, without closing the doors of the ashram.
Traditionally, in yoga teacher training programs there is no independence. You look at what you are guided to. This is good, but not for everyone. If somone is studying a level 2 yoga course they have the discipline to get back to the basics.
The self-paced level 2 yoga home study course is much more to the liking of teachers who have needy students. The yoga instructor cannot tell his students to go away for a month, while he takes a vacation.
Om Shanti,
Hamed
