Hi Peg,
You would be wise to have both, but give a break to students who make a commitment.
For example eight yoga classes for $79 or the "walk-in rate" of $16 per class. For many different reasons, walk-ins are usually "try outs" and they don't want to commit to a package. They have one foot in your door and the other on a banana peel. Most veteran teachers eventually stop trying to figure them out.
There are so many reasons why people don't want to commit to anything that Yoga studios have started to charge them $12 to $20 per class. When you have your regular students, the revolving door of walk-ins becomes a distraction. If my class is full, I gladly turn walk-ins away. Teacher opinions vary, but I tend to think walk-in rates should be much higher per class in comparison to class package rates for my regular students and I only accept them on a stand-by basis.
Hope this helps.
Shanti,
Priyah
