Namaskar Fellow Yoga Teachers:

I expected everyone to start drinking in a back alley with all the glorious news these days. But I was pleasantly surprised to see how many new students did their research and joined my yoga classes this winter. If you can find the time to do some seva for those poor souls in the homeless shelters, it balances things out. Yoga teachers can export their stress management skills far beyond the studios and ashrams. Some people don't have the education to read. In such cases how would we expect them to know the stress relieving benefits of yoga. Most of them grew up seeing stress management in a bottle at the local liquor store.

Don't take me wrong - kids grow up seeing their parents resolve issues and they copy what they see - even if it didn't work! It is hard to break the mold once it is cast. For so many people to seek out yoga as a solution to overwhelming stress is a testament to the information age. There is a silver lining in this dark cloud we call the daily news - people are alot smarter than they used to be. Praise every student for their fortitude and their education.
