Namaskar Dear Ones,

I am shocked at the result of this thread so far. When I first read it there seemed to be no chance of a logical outcome. I'm impressed by the points made by the yoga teachers here and the fact that each of you gave constructive advice. All of you and Girbey should be congratulated for finding a way to share information and resolve issues that sometimes become inflammatory.

Girbey: I also hope also that you will contact us again. I also hope that you will work with local yoga teachers in your area. It would suit you well to attend classes with a competent yoga instructor. It can also help to meet a few poor instructors to learn what Not to do to your students. When you study to become a yoga teacher every established instructor is examined under the microscope by an intern in training. The reason is quite simple - you learn from good or bad teachers equally.

The good yoga teacher is someone we wish to replicate. At first each of us becomes a parrot as we copy our guru. Later we become confident in our own abilities to teach. We become creative and we develop our own style of teaching. This is the nature of teaching if we want to improve. The difference is a teacher who dsn't feel any compassion for students. This kind of teacher has no wishes to learn more about yoga. Yoga becomes only an income with no desire to improve teaching skills.

Each of us has a different outlook on life. It is the nature of our existence to see the world from our eyes only. When one teaches yoga there should be a new ability to see the opposition's view. This is a unique existence as a teacher must have the ability to feel for the student based upon compassion and empathy. These yoga teachers exist but they may not be able to get on the cover of yoga journal.

Instead we worship the cruel swami to the stars of hollywood because of his mansion and fleet of rolls royce's. His wife is the better teacher but his arrogance is devilish. He heats up his torture chamber to 105 degrees and insults his students and he is loved for it. Sorry, I digress. It is good that Girbey has decided to take a good yoga course.

OM,

A.S. Kumar
