All of the second trimester precautions still apply to third trimester of pregnancy. Although experienced yoginis have practiced inversions before pregnancy, the third trimester is a time for caution. A pregnant student practicing sirshasana may be impressive in a photo session, but there is much potential for risk to both mother and baby. Practicing hatha yoga over 32.2 Celsius can cause over heating and fainting. Because the balance is affected, chair yoga is much safer during the third stage of pregnancy. Twists, forward bends, and back bends should be more shallow. Pushing these asanas can lead to injury.
