There is a ring of truth in what you say, but big money is moving in and yoga instructors love it. They jump in line to join Yoga alliance. Plus it makes great wall paper. What are you going to do? When the old fossils retire many of the the younger teachers will join.
To be honest, it is hard to keep up with all of the changes and regulations at Yoga Alliance. They have more new rules than the NFL.
At this time, some Yoga studios run by E-RYT's require their teachers to be RYT's.
This is interesting, because teachers should be hired, based on competence.
However, many fitness centers just want a certification. As you know already, many more opportunities exist beyond teaching in Yoga studios. So, it is not crucial, to join the Alliance, but it could be in the distant future.
