Recognition: Certification is enough to teach Yoga, anywhere in the world, but there is a level of competency that every Yoga teacher should be at, for the safety of Yoga students. In truth there is no regulating body of Yoga. There is an alternative to the BWY in the UK.
They are called the independent yoga network, but you don't have to belong to either one. The first to create the myth that they are an arm of the government was the BWY. Now, you have the American version - Yoga Alliance.
You do not have to belong to them to teach Yoga. Some Yoga studios may insist, but many will not.
Want to be a millionaire? Charge 10,000 certified Yoga teachers $100 per year for a piece of paper that says they are registered. Now that's business!
