This is a long message but I find myself in a state of confusion as I write this so let me try to explain as best as I can.
I trained and certified as a yoga teacher(diploma)back in India 6 years ago. I went through a 7 month yoga training diploma course (with teaching practice and camps)plus what would amount to an associates degree in yoga teachers training. Soon after I got done I got married and came to this country. I did not have permission to work(i was on my husband's work visa). I kind of tried to teach yoga but got discouraged because people would take it for granted free teaching plus my husband was against it(he was like why are you wasting gas and money to teach people ). People always told me I am a good teacher whenever I took a class. It finally came down to the point where I used to teach yoga to a couple who lived near me and that was it. 2 years ago I had a child and got so busy with that that my yoga practice and teaching totally stopped. I must have not done an asana until very recently for 1.5 years now. i have just got permission to work from the government so i can take up a job. My husband is motivating me to do that as we could certainly use the money and I want to do it too.
I just strated a course in medical assistantship and certainly the thought of being a yoga teacher was as far as anything from my mind. Lately a couple of people mentioned yoga to me. Someone had problems of migraines and was cured by using pranayamas and a friend of mine was asking about me teaching him some asanas. So it came back to my mind but always i feel that its been too many years and that I should get recertified. Always the thought of the expense stops me. This camp-in-a-box course certainly seems reasonable(compared to what other institutes are charging) but i have a few reservations;
Money is really tight with us; in order to go for this course my husband would make me quit the medical assitantship(I would anyway because you should choose one thing and be committed to it to do it well)
I would want to work with a fitness company or yoga school or community college for a few years as I am not ready financially and don't have the confidence to start on my own business right now. After that I would start my own studio.
how easy are such jobs to get?
Typically what other qualifications(e.g. CPR, insurance etc.) do you need to get such jobs?
I don't want to make the wrong decision. I kind of have a history of quitting things and I am determined to change and see whatever I get into to the end. If I get into being a yoga teacher thats what I want to be till I am 105 or die whichever comes first.
