Ishwara Pranidana is acknowledgement of a power that creates the universe, galaxies, stars and us. If you are a pure atheist and you don't believe in anything, you still have to be thankful to the Big Bang that started this universe. But you still have to wonder who lit the match. Was it God or just a bunch of atoms???

Spritual health is another matter. If I have poor spiritual health it will be hard to face all of the suffering that life can throw at me. When I'm sick, suffering and alone, will I feel the need to pray? Most people do. That doesn't make it right or wrong. People pray because they need to feel better. Prayer feeds hope and many say that God hears us. Is all this a requirement to teach yoga classes? NO! Teach yoga because you love to teach it and life will take care of the details.
