Dear Mr. Paul,

Namaskar!

Thank you for your kind reply and guidance.

I intend to follow your advice.

Sincerely,

Kitty

Namaskar Kitty,

About the red veins in your eyes. I am a Yoga teacher, but I am not a medical doctor. You should see a medical doctor as soon as possible. No doctor can give you a medical opinion, which requires observation, via the Internet. These conditions vary from person to person. However, stop performing any inversions, right now, and seek a professional opinion from your doctor.

Assuming that you mean "Parvatasana," for the first asana, there is nothing wrong with the pranayams and asanas you have chosen, but you should walk, bike, or swim. The body needs to move more and you are still young. For example the target for daily walking should be 10,000 steps. You can measure this with a pedometer.

Physical cross training is wise for weight management, but there are other factors in gaining weight. The diet we eat, the time we eat, thyroid health, and fibroids can also be factors. Women can easily develop fibroids in their late 30's to 50's.

The asanas and pranayams you mentioned should be fine during menstruation. There is some debate about inversions during menstruation, but you should not be performing any inversions with the eye problems you are having.

Please see a doctor quickly. The veins protruding within the eyes is not a good sign and I do not want to speculate on the possibilities, but this is something you must take care of now.

OM Shanti,

Paul
