Physical problems grow proportionately with the aging process as the physical composition of the body changes. Most of the problems associated with aging can be easing with the right combination of yoga practices.

It is very important for a woman to understand and accept the changes in her body and try to remain physically and mentally active in a creative manner. Even though we encounter physical changes a woman should adopt a positive attitude with regular yoga practice.

Let's review the interrelation between yoga, perimenopause and menopause and how to ease the symptoms with the help of yoga, meditation, and dietary. Menstruation usually begins at the ages of ten, fifteen. The menstrual cycle continues for as long as 45 to 50s. And with aging process the cessation of the cycle starts.

The aging body normally produces smaller quantities of the hormones which control the cycle, and with time it ceases. This is called menopause. Premature menopause is the term given to menopause accuring before age 40. Perimenopause means, around menopause and is the months and years leading up to menopause. Perimenopause is another phase of life.

The main thing is to stay steady through the changes by diet, yoga, meditation and spiritual attitude. And to remind oneself that menopause is natural. During menopause some women would find support by yoga, some by taking herbal treatments, receiving acupuncture, some would cut out meat and sugar from their diet. I think combining a yoga practice, with diet, supplements and meditation is a great help.
